PEORIA, Ariz. -- Kayla Mortellaro posted rounds of 72-73 Sunday for a one-over-par 145 in the first two rounds of the Westbrook Invitational at the Westbrook Village Golf Club, as the Vandals sit in a tie for ninth place at 16-over 592.
Idaho's Teo Poplowski had the low-round for the Vandals, finishing the first round with a two-under 70, but shot 77 in the second 18 holes to finish three over heading into Monday's final tied for 19th.
Rachel Choi shot 76-73 for the Vandals and is tied for 27th in the individual standings. Kaitlyn Oster was eight-over for the day and is in a tie for 46th, while Leilanie Kim finished the day 12-over in a tie for 48th.
Mortellaro bogeyed the par-5 fifth hole in her first round of the day, but made birdie on two of the next three holes to get to one-under. But she gave it back by bogeying the next two holes. However, she bounced back once again with birdies on the 12th and 13th, both par-fours, to get back to one-under. Her bogey on the par-5 17th led to her even-par first round. Mortellaro made three bogeys and two birdies in her second round to finish one-over for the day.
Poplowski's round of 70 came after she made five birdies and three bogeys in her opening round. She made a birdie on the par-3 fourth hole in her second round, but also had five bogeys on the card.
The final round is Monday, and the Vandals are just one shot behind host-Wisconsin, two shots behind Eastern Michigan, and six shots behind Kansas State in the 12-team event.
