PULLMAN, Wash. - The University of Idaho women's golf team is sixth after the first 36 holes of the annual WSU Cougar Cup at Palouse Ridge Golf Club.

"We finished our last nine holes very well," coach Lisa Johnson said. "I was extremely encouraged by that. Our plan is to build on that performance.

"We know we can play this course eve par as a team. We need to make better decisions with club selections and we need to make more putts. If we can do those two things, we can move up the leader board."

The Vandals, led by Kaitlyn Oster, had rounds of 303-301 for a 604. California leads the tournament at 581 with host Washington State second at 585.

Oster is tied for 14th after rounds of 77-71 for a 148 with Leilanie Kim tied for 20th with a 73-77 (150). Rachel Choi is tied for 24th at 151 with Kristin Strankman in a tie for 40th at 155. In a tie for 77th is Kassidy Long-Gohen at 166.
