Idaho’s Rachel Millet and Paige Hunt were chosen the Western Athletic Conference Swimmer and Diver of the Week for Oct. 1-7. Millet, a sophomore, from Spokane, Wash. (Ferris H.S.), opened the Vandals' season in dominating fashion by winning all three individual events in which she competed. Millet hit the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle with a WAC -leading time of 1:52.34. Her first-place time of 2:06:24 in the 200-yard IM also comes in as the WAC’s top time of the early season. Millet’s final first-place time came in the 100-ayrd freestyle, where she swam a 51.99, edging out the second-place finisher by .63 seconds. She also raced in the 200-yard medley relay, finishing third as a team with a time of 1:47.19. Hunt, a junior from Mesa, Ariz. (Mesa CC), recorded a NCAA zone qualifying score of 283.80 in claiming the 3-meter event by an almost 23-point margin. Hunt finished fifth in the 1-meter event scoring dives totaling a score of 227.17 |
