LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The University of Idaho women’s golf team had the fourth best round of the final day and one of just 13 sub-300 rounds during the 54-hole Las Vegas Collegiate Shootout to pull into a tie for 11^th in the annual event.

“We finished on a good note,” said coach Lisa Johnson, whose team had some struggles with winds that gusted to 35 mph throughout the tournament. “We moved up a lot.”

Kaitlyn Oster, who had an eagle-3 on the par-5, 497-yard second hole, was a big part of the jump up the scoreboard after her two-under 70. That pushed her into a tie for 14^th overall after her tournament total 225. Her 70 tied for second-lowest round of the tournament.

Throughout the ranks, though, the Vandals had a strong final round with Leilanie Kim and Kristin Strankman matching 74s with Kim’s giving her a 232 and a tie for 42 and Strankman’s leading to a 235 and a tie for 59^th. Rachel Choi had a 77 to move into a tie for 67^th with a 237 and Cassie McKinley tied for 86^th after a final round 83 left her at 245.

“We finally played well,” said Johnson of the Vandals’ final round. “It was the wind. This golf course is scoreable without it.”
