|Vandals seventh with one round to go|
FRESNO, Calif. - The University of Idaho women's golf team is seventh with 18 holes to play at the Fresno State Lexus Classic.
Kristin Strankman and Leilanie Kim are tied for 10th with first-day 150s during Monday's 36 holes. Strankman went 77-73 for her six-over day, while Kim went 75-75 for her 150. Rachel Choi is tied for 36th at 154 with Cassie McKinley one stroke back at 155 and tied for 42nd. Kaitlyn Oster is tied for 50th at 157.
"I'm pleased with the progress we've made this semester," coach Lisa Johnson said, "but we're still leaving too many shots out there around the greens. We are not executing our chip shots and we've had too many three putts."
She did see a bright spot during the afternoon round during which the Vandals made birdies that had eluded them previously. Despite windy conditions in the afternoon, the Vandals showed the play that gives promise.
"We managed our games very well from tee to green in the wind," Johnson said.
