DENVER -- After leading the Idaho men’s basketball team to a 67-64 victory over Western Illinois, Idaho senior forward Stephen Madison (Portland, Ore./Jefferson HS) was recognized with Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors from the WAC and College Sports Madness.

Madison scored 21 points and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds in Idaho’s win for his third career double-double. He also finished with five assists and just one turnover, and shot 7-for-11 from the field, 4-of-6 from 3-point range and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. After the first week of games of the 2013-14 season, Madison leads the WAC in rebounding and is tied for the top spot in assists, 3-point field goal percentage and 3-pointers made. His scoring average and assist to turnover ratio rank second.

“Steve played great the other night with 21 points and 14 rebounds in 35 minutes,” Idaho coach Don Verlin said. “He shot the ball extremely well and played with a lot of energy on both ends of the court. I couldn’t be happier for the way he started his senior year. That’s a great start for him.”

The Vandals continue play this week when they visit Oklahoma on Nov. 13 and host Northwest Nazarene on Nov. 16.
