From Idaho it was on to Utah State (1995-97), Louisville (1998-99), Southern Mississippi (2000-02), Louisville (2003-06), Atlanta Falcons (2007), Arkansas (2008-09), Illinois (2010-11) and Arkansas (2012).
tim deruyter is in his second season at Fresno State. He was the interim head coach at Texas A&M in 2011 after serving as the team’s defensive coordinator in 2010. He is a graduate of the Air Force Academy, where he played linebacker. After graduating from the Academy, he coached there from 1991-94 before going on to Ohio (1995-98), Navy (1999-2001), Ohio (2002-04), Nevada (2005-06) and Air Force (2007-09).
INDEPENDENCE
Idaho is playing the 2013 season as an FBS independent before rejoining the Sun Belt Conference in 2014. The Vandals have been independent previously – 1893-1907 and 1959-62. There are six other independent FBS programs – Army, BYU, Navy, New Mexico State,  Notre Dame and Old Dominion.
THE SERIES
This is the 15th game between the Vandals and the Bulldogs. Fresno State leads the series 10-4. The teams first played in 1946 and meet periodically until 2005 when the Vandals joint the Western Athletic Conference. They last played in 2011 – a 48-24 victory by Fresno State at the Kibbie Dome.
