MOSCOW - Barbara Maciocha was named women's tennis WAC player of the week capping a great week for he University of Idaho women's tennis team.

The junior was pivotal for the Vandals last week, going undefeated in both singles and doubles play as the team went 3-0 on the week. Playing at Nos. 4 and 5 singles, she picked up three straight-set wins, including the match-clincher against Eastern Washington. In doubles, Maciocha and partner Silvia Irimescu went 3-0 at Nos. 2 and 3.

"Basia played great this last week.  She is always one of our most consistent and reliable players, and it is nice to see her get this award," women's tennis head coach Tyler Neill said. "She is playing at very high level right now and it looks like she is going to have a great rest of the season."

It was the first time Maciocha had been named WAC player of the week.

Idaho opens the home portion of its schedule with a match against Seattle Univ. at 12:30 p.m. in the Kibbie Dome on Friday.
