University of Idaho freshman
Rachel Millet won her second Western Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week
honor after sweeping to three victories in last week’s meet at New Mexico State
University.
Millet, who just last year was a student at Spokane’s Ferris High School and competing for the Spokane Waves Aquatic Team, won the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle
events as well as swimming a leg of the winning 400 free relay. She was timed
in 24.61 seconds in the 50, 52.64 in the 100 free, and 1:52.46 in the 200 free.
She swam the lead-off leg in joining forces with Megan Venlos, Erica Anderson
and Si Jia Pang to win the 400 free relay.
Already this season, Millet has
set four Idaho swimming records – the 50, 100 and 200 free as well as the 100
butterfly. She also is on the record-setting 800 free relay.
The Vandals are at home for the
first time this season when they play host to Oregon State University at the UI
Swim Center Saturday at 11 a.m. There is no admission charge and pom poms will
be handed out to Vandal fans.
