MOSCOW, Idaho—New beginnings has been a recent theme for the Idaho women’s soccer program. On Monday, Derek Pittman became the school’s fourth head coach. On Wednesday, Pittman announced the signing of eight commits to National Letters of Intent. The eight new Vandals will begin their careers at Idaho in the fall of 2014.

Olivia Baggerly (Canby, Ore.), Josilyn Daggs (Carson City, Nev.), Chloe Bell (Canby, Ore.), Andes Archibald (Richland, Wash.), Kaitlyn Joy (Dripping Springs, Texas), Bethany Leleifeld (Boring, Ore.), Bret Baysinger (Richland, Wash.) and Ashley Engberg (Moscow, Idaho) will make up the bulk of Pittman's first signing class.

“As a staff, we are extremely excited about what this 2014 class will add to our roster for the upcoming season,” Pittman said. "There is a good mix of physical toughness and technical skill in this group, which meshes well with the talented pool of returning players next fall.

"We are going to be known as a team that battles hard for 90 minutes and sells out for every opportunity on both sides of the ball. This class of players will fit in fantastically with this new Vandal soccer identity.”

Idaho’s class of 2014 spans from Texas to Washington, covering five different states. The new class of Vandals includes three forwards, two midfielders, two defenders and a defender/midfielder hybrid.

The incoming class will join goalkeeper Kimberly Gerken, who began taking classes in January.
