DENVER - The University of Idaho swept the Western Athletic Conference's Verizon Wireless Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors for the week of April 12-18 after a strong team performance at the Mt. SAC Relays and Beach Invitational.

Gabby Midles, a sophomore from Camas, Wash. (Camas HS), earned the field honor for the second weekend in a row after breaking the school record in the women's hammer throw at the Mt. SAC Relays. Midles threw the hammer 192-4 (58.62m) to extend her WAC lead in the event to nearly eight feet and move into 11th in the West Region and 21st in the NCAA.

Allix Lee-Painter, a senior from Moscow, Idaho (Moscow HS), earned the track honor after an impressive distance double. On Thursday at the Mt. SAC Relays, Lee-Painter ran a personal-best 10:19.15 in the 3,000m steeplechase to move into third all-time at Idaho and seventh in the NCAA this year. That time leads the WAC by more than 10 seconds.

Lee-Painter followed it up on Friday by running another personal best, this time in the 5,000m. Her time of 16:33.43 ranks as the third-fastest in school history and is the fastest time by a Vandal in 26 years. She leads the WAC in the event by nearly 20 seconds.

The honor is the first of Lee-Painter's career, the second of Midles' career and the seventh for Idaho athletes during the outdoor track and field season.

Lee-Painter and Midles will lead Idaho into Pullman this weekend for the Cougar Invitational on Saturday, April 24, starting at 10 a.m.
