MANHATTAN, Kan. – The University of Idaho men’s golf team
finished second at the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate at Colbert Hills after a
closing round 300 gave the Vandals a 54-hole total 912.
Kansas State won the tournament with a 901 and Valparaiso
was third at 938.
Gordon Webb led the Vandals during the final round with a 70
– low of the tournament for Idaho, to pull into fourth as one of four players
in the top 11. Sean McMullen tied for sixth after a final-round 78 put him at
227. One stroke back at 228 after a 77 Tuesday was Dylan Baker in a tie for
eighth. Aaron Cockerill was 11th after his final 75 gave him a 232.
Mark Giorgi rounded out the Vandal effort with a 248 and a tie for 43rd.
Idaho second-round 304 and final-round 300 were the third
and fourth lowest team scores of the tournament, while Webb’s 70 tied medalist
Daily Young (Missouri State) for the low round of the tournament.
