MOSCOW, Idaho - The Idaho men's tennis team continues to make history this season, and for the third time this year, the Vandals have earned the team's highest national ranking in program history, climbing all the way to No. 46 in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Associations top-75.
Idaho is 16-4 on the season and 3-1 in Western Athletic Conference play, and is coming off wins over Utah State and then-No. 56 Hawai'i, and a loss to No. 39 Fresno State. The Vandals have clinched a spot in the six-team WAC men's tennis tournament, and are looking to make a strong push for an NCAA tournament bid, either by winning the WAC tournament, or earning an at-large bid with a strong finish to the season.
"The way we're playing, we'll be very competitive and compete for the WAC championship," Idaho tennis coach Jeff Beaman said. "With our ranking continuing to go up, we're also positioning ourselves for an at-large bid."
The Vandals host their final home match of the season on April 14 when Gonzaga visits Moscow. Idaho will wrap up its regular season in Las Cruces, N.M., with WAC matches against New Mexico State and Nevada, and a non-conference match against Arizona April 21-23. The WAC tournament is April 29-May 1 in Boise, Idaho.
