MOSCOW - College Sports Madness has selected Idaho sophomore Alyssa Charlston as its Western Athletic Conference women's basketball Player of the Week, as Charlston helped the Vandals earn a road sweep over WAC foes Hawai'i and San Jose State last week.

The 6-foot-1 post averaged 14.0 points and 12.5 rebounds while shooting 57.1 percent from the field as Idaho snapped its eight-game losing streak and put itself right back in the thick of the WAC race mid-way through the conference season. Charlston matched her career-high with 16 rebounds in Idaho's 67-63 win over SJSU, notching her seventh double-double of the season as she also poured in 14 points. Two days earlier Charlston posted 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting to go along with nine rebounds and two blocks in Idaho's 69-61 win at Hawai'i.

Idaho is 7-16 overall and 2-5 in the WAC and is in a group of five teams within two games of third place in the WAC standings. The Vandals will welcome New Mexico State (5-17, 2-5 WAC) to the Cowan Spectrum on Feb. 9 and host LA Tech (11-11, 4-3 WAC) on Feb. 11 in a pair of games that figure to sort out some of the cluster in the conference standings. Both games start at 5:30 p.m. and are the first half of a doubleheader with the Vandal men's team.
