MORAGA, Calif. - The Idaho men's tennis team picked up its third straight win on Saturday as it defeated Saint Mary's 4-3 in Moraga, Calif.
Idaho improves to 8-6 this spring with the victory.
"This was a good win against a strong team," Idaho coach Jeff Beaman said. "It was great to see the guys fight back after losing the doubles point."
Idaho's Andrew Dobbs and Marius Cirstea won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles but the Vandals lost at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles and Saint Mary's won the double point.
The Vandals bounced back in singles action, as Abid Akbar won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, Cristobal Ramos Salazar won 6-4, 7-5 at No. 3, Jose Bendeck won 6-2, 7-6 at No. 3 and Cesar Torres won by default after a first set victory at No. 6 singles.
Up next for the Vandals is No. 29 Santa Clara on Sunday.
