|Kayla recognized as WAC honoree|
University of Idaho women's golfer Kayla Mortellaro, who graduated in May, has been recognized as the Western Athletic Conference's honoree for the 2012 NCAA Woman of the Year award.
429 NCAA female student-athletes across all three divisions were nominated for the national award, and a quarter of those received conference honoree recognition for their outstanding achievement.
An announcement of the top 30 nominees, including 10 from each NCAA division, will be made in September.
Mortellaro was recently honored as the WAC's female the Stan Bates Award winner, which annually recognizes the top female scholar-athlete in the conference.
Mortellaro holds Idaho school records with 10 career wins and a 72.80 career scoring average, and shares the record for low round of 65. She won back-to-back WAC titles in 2011 and 2012, and three consecutive WAC Women's Golfer of the Year honors, from 2010-12. In 2009 she was the WAC Freshman of the Year. She is also a two-time NGCA Honorable Mention All-American.
