Five home matches at the end of the season highlight the spring 2013 schedule for the Idaho men's tennis team, as head coach Jeff Beaman announced Monday.

The Vandals get things started on Jan. 20 at Eastern Washington and play a non-conference schedule with several teams from within the region, including Nevada, Whitworth, Gonzaga, Weber State, Portland, Portland State, Montana, Montana State and Oregon. The Vandals will also visit Hawai'i to face Liberty University and Hawai'i, and play DePaul, St. Mary's, SMU and Oklahoma State during the spring season.

"This year's schedule is a combination of good regional competition against some of our traditional rivals, and additional matches against some very strong opponents from out of our region such as Oklahoma St, SMU, St. Mary's, Hawai'i and DePaul," Idaho coach Jeff Beaman said. "The schedule will give the team a chance to make a push in the National rankings and get us ready for what will be a really tough conference to win this year."

Idaho's six-match Western Athletic Conference schedule begins on Feb. 16 at Utah State and also includes matches at Seattle U on Feb. 22 and UT Arlington on April 1. Idaho hosts WAC foes New Mexico State (Mar. 29), UTSA (April 19) and Denver (April 21). The Vandals' home schedule also includes matches against Sacramento State on April 7 and BYU on April 13. Idaho will also play in the Boise State Team Tournament March 22-23 in Boise, Idaho.

"A highlight of this year will be our men's home schedule, which includes the most home matches since I have been at Idaho, with many of the teams ones that could be highly nationally ranked which shows the respect our program is getting as a team worth travelling to play."
