EUGENE, Ore. - The No. 63 Idaho men's tennis team suffered its first defeat of the season, a 4-3 loss at No. 40 Oregon on Friday night. Idaho falls to 11-1 on the season while the Ducks improve to 11-1 with the win.
Idaho's Jose Bendeck and Cristobal Ramos Salazar won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles but the Ducks won the doubles point with an 8-3 win at No. 1 and an 8-2 win at No. 3.
Dmitry Perevoshchikov gutted out a 7-6(14), 6-3 win at No. 1 singles and Abid Akbar won 6-3, 7-6 at No. 2. Marius Cirstea fell 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 and Cesar Torres fell by the same score at No. 4. Bendeck lost 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5 and Ramos Salazar won 6-3, 4-6, 10-3 at No. 6, but Oregon had already clinched the win.
The Vandals will face St. Mary's on Saturday and Seattle U on Sunday to wrap up the weekend.
