University of Idaho punter Austin Rehkow, a true freshman from Veradale, Wash., was honored Monday as the Ray Guy Award National Punter of the Week after averaging 51.1 yards on seven punts in the Vandals' game against Fresno State last Saturday.

Of Rehkow's seven punts, five were for more than 50 yards with the long a of 58. Rehkow also doubles as Idaho's kicker - one of just two FBS players nationwide to handle both positions.

Idaho coach Paul Petrino credited Rehkow's work ethic and strength as keys to his continual progress for the Vandals.

The Ray Guy Award honors one player each week and caps the season with the national award given to the player deemed the best punter in college football.
