MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho men’s and women’s tennis teams announced their spring schedules Monday, with 22 matches for each team leading up to the Western Athletic Conference tournament April 25-27 in Las Cruces, N.M.
The Vandal women will spend the first five weeks of the season on the Palouse, with their first nine matches scattered between Moscow, Pullman, Spokane and Lewiston. The women will play regular season WAC matches against Seattle U, UMKC, Grand Canyon and New Mexico State.
The Idaho men open the season on Jan. 25 with a pair of matches in Cheney, Wash., against Seattle U and Eastern Washington. Idaho’s lone home match is the regular season finale against LCSC on April 19.
“I feel we have strong schedules for both the men and women going into this spring with a combination of some nationally prominent programs, strong regional competition and several of the top Big Sky schools that helps us see where we are at moving into the Big Sky after this season,” Idaho Director of Tennis Jeff Beaman said.
The Vandal women have five matches against future conference opponents from the Big Sky, which Idaho rejoins in 2014-15, with Montana State, Eastern Washington, Idaho State, Northern Arizona and Montana on the schedule. In addition to four WAC matches, the Idaho men face four Big Sky opponents; EWU, Portland State, Sacramento State and Montana.
