|Men's tennis adds two|
MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho men’s tennis team picked up two players as the signing period opened this week, with the additions of Rhys Richardson and Mark Kovacs.
“This is a great start to our recruiting class that will maintain the high standards we have set for Idaho tennis,” Idaho coach Jeff Beaman said.
Richardson, who will graduate from Saddlebrook Prep in Wesley Chapel, Fla., this spring is originally from the Seattle area. He is a three-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net, and has been ranked among the top 250 tennis recruits in the country.
“It’s great to get an American player of his caliber with Northwest ties,” Beaman said of Richardson. “He has the ability to come to campus and make an immediate impact in our lineup. Rhys is also an excellent student, making him a great fit for our team.”
Kovacs will join Idaho from Budapest, Hungary next fall. He reached the top 500 in the ITF World Junior rankings and holds a 16-12 career singles record and 15-13 career doubles record on the ITF Junior Circuit.
“Mark is a great player who will have a chance to impact the lineup right away,” Beaman said. “He has had great results in Hungary, which is a very competitive country for tennis. Like Rhys, Mark is also a great student who plans to double-major in architecture and business at Idaho.”
