MOSCOW, Idaho – Brazilian Felipe Fonseca has signed a National Letter of Intent to play tennis at Idaho, head coach Jeff Beaman announced Wednesday.

Fonseca has a career high ITF Pro ranking of 1663. As a junior at age 16 he finished the year ranked No. 6 in Brazil and No. 1 in his state.

“Felipe is a great addition to our program,” Idaho coach Jeff Beaman said. “He comes with excellent results in junior and men’s events.  It is also nice to add another lefty to the team.  We look for him to make an immediate impact in our line-up.”

Fonseca will help the 2014 Western Athletic Conference champion Vandals transition into the Big Sky Conference, where Idaho won 10 conference titles in a 13-year span from 1966-1978.
