Kelly Gibbons McDonald was one of the first big-time hitters in Idaho volleyball history from 1981-84. A former holder of five school records and still Idaho’s all-time kill leader, it’s safe to say that McDonald knew how to finish a play. In her four years at Idaho, she tallied 1,524 kills – an average of 381 per year, and led the Vandals to a 98-61 record. Her 1984 team still holds the school record for kills in a season with 2,071. McDonald was a three-time All-Big Sky selection from 1982-84, with First-Team honors in 1982 and 1984. She also was a 1984 Big Sky Scholar-Athlete.
