University of Idaho sophomore golfer Kayla Mortellaro has climbed to ninth in the nation in the weekly GolfStat.com rankings. Mortellaro, who finished fifth at this week's Wyoming Cowgirl Classic, is a three-time winner so far this season and has finished in the top five in seven of nine events.
"Kayla is extremely talented physically and has an extraordinary mental game," coach Lisa Johnson said. "She has taken her game to the next level this year. With her ability, the rate of progress shows in smaller increments but you can see her improvement as she gains collegiate experience."
In 24 rounds, she has an scoring average of 72.08 with an adjusted to par +1.335. Auburn University's Cydney is the nation's top-ranked female golfer with USC's Jennifer Song second, Oklahoma State's Caroline Hedwall third.
