DENVER-The Idaho women's basketball team is off to its best start since the 2003-04 season, and the the Western Athletic Conference is beginning to take notice. Vandal senior Yinka Olorunnife was honored as the WAC Player of the Week on Monday.

Olorunnife helped the Vandals win a pair of games over Eastern Washington and UC Santa Barbara by averaging 19.0 points and 11.0 rebounds in two games. She shot 50.0 percent from the field for the week, draining 13-of-26 of her shots, and hit 7-of-13 3-pointers. Olorunnife had a double-double in both games, finishing with 21 points and 10 rebounds against Eastern Washington, and 17 points and 12 rebounds against UC Santa Barbara. She played all 50 minutes of Idaho's double-overtime win over the Gauchos.

"It's a great honor for her and for our program," Idaho coach Jon Newlee said. "She certainly deserved it, she did a great job on the boards and she has really picked up her scoring for us this year."

The award is the second of Olorunnife's career, and first of 2010-11. The Vandals are off to a 3-0 start this season.
