MOSCOW - For the first time in five years the Idaho women's tennis team will play a home match in the Kibbie Dome, as the Vandals welcome Eastern Washington on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. match.

"It's definitely going to be nice. Hopefully we can take of advantage of knowing our courts and having our home crowd here," first-year coach Myriam Sopel said. "Not having a long drive will also be something we can take advantage of."

The last time Idaho hosted a match in the dome as March 2, 2008, when it swept Idaho State 7-0.

The Vandals are 3-7 on the season and have gone 3-3 in their last six matches after an 0-4 start.

"They're putting in the effort and we've been doing better on a lot of things, but we still have a long ways to go and a lot of things to work on as we get ready for our conference matches," Sopel said of her team. "We're still finding the right doubles combinations and where everybody stands in the singles lineup as well."

Eastern Washington enters Wednesday with a 4-7 overall record. The Eagles lost their first five matches, responded by winning four straight, but have since dropped their last two.

"It's definitely going to be a competitive match," Sopel said. "We know that every team we play is going to be strong and every match is going to be a tough match right now. We're ready for it, we've been practicing and hopefully if we play well we can get a good win."

After Wednesday's match the Vandals will travel to New Orleans, La., to face Youngstown State on  March 10 and Xavier of Louisiana on March 12.
