BOISE, Idaho – Idaho freshman women’s tennis player Galina Bykova won her first three singles matches in the main draw at the BSU Fall Invitational Friday and Saturday to reach Sunday’s championship match, where she will face Boise State’s Morgan Basil.

“We’re really excited to see Galina make the finals of this tough tournament in her first college event,” Idaho Director of Tennis Jeff Beaman said.

Idaho’s Vicky Lozano and Almudena Sanz each reached the quarterfinal in the main draw singles event, and after wins in the first round of the Orange flight, Sophie Vickers and Belen Barcenilla will square off in the second-round loss consolation finals Sunday. Barcenilla and Vickers will also play in Sunday’s Orange flight doubles finals.

“The overall performance by the girls has been a great start to the year,” Beaman added.
