SPOKANE, Wash. – The Idaho women’s tennis team improved to 2-1 on the season with a 6-1 win over Eastern Washington on Saturday.

Idaho swept the doubles point to take the early 1-0 lead in the match then won at all but No. 3 singles. Victoria Lozano needed a tiebreak t for a 6-2, 3-6, 10-7 win at the top spot while Almudena Sanz cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2. Galina Bykova fell 6-1, 1-6, 10-5 at No. 3 but Bety Flores win 6-1, 6-1, Belen Barcenilla won 6-3, 6-0 and Sophie Vickers won 6-1, 6-1  at Nos. 4, 5 and 6, respectively, to complete the 6-1 team victory.

“Both teams played hard,” Idaho coach Jeff Beaman said. “We’re happy to come away with a win and very pleased with our overall team effort.”
