|Vandals dominate Seattle U|
PULLMAN, Wash. – The Idaho women’s tennis team cruised to its fourth consecutive win on Saturday, beating Seattle U 5-0 with a dominating doubles performance and four straight-set singles wins.
Idaho’s Victoria Lozano and Almudena Sanz won 6-1 at No. 1 doubles and Alejandra Lozano and Galina Bykova won 6-2 at No. 3. The No. 2 doubles match was unfinished.
Sanz picked up a 6-0, 6-4 win at the top singles spot while Victoria Lozano won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2. Bykova and Sophie Vickers each went unscathed in their singles matches, winning 6-0, 6-0 at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. In all, Idaho won five of its eight singles sets 6-0.
"We are really pleased with the attitude and effort today," associate head coach Art Hoomiratana said. "The girls fought hard for the entire duration of the match."
The Vandals improve to 4-1 on the season with the win. Idaho will return to action next week when they face Fresno State at 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 13 and Utah State at 4 p.m. on Feb. 14. Both matches will be played in Pullman, Wash.
