|WTEN gets another shutout win|
PHOENIX – The Idaho women’s tennis team got its third straight shutout-win on Monday, beating Western Athletic Conference foe Grand Canyon 4-0 in Phoenix, Ariz.
Idaho improves to 14-3 on the season with its eighth shutout win of the season. The Vandals are 3-0 against WAC teams. Grand Canyon falls to 11-5 on the season with the loss.
“This was a solid win against a very strong and well-coached team,” Idaho coach Jeff Beaman said. “The score was deceiving and the match could have gone either way.”
The Vandals took the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles, then got singles wins from Galina Bykova at No. 3, Sophie Vickers at No. 4 and Rita Bermudez at No. 6 to earn the victory.
Idaho will be on the road for its next three matches, including two at the site of next month’s WAC tournament, when the Vandals visit UTEP on April 11 before heading to Las Cruces, N.M., to face Arkansas State on April 12 and New Mexico State on April 13. Idaho will host Oregon on April 18 at 1 p.m. and visit Montana on April 20 before the WAC tournament April 25-27 in Las Cruces.
