MOSCOW - The Idaho women's tennis team picked up its second straight 5-2 win on Sunday, beating Louisiana Tech in Western Athletic Conference action in the regular season finale.
Idaho swept the doubles point with an 8-4 win at No. 1, an 8-2 win at No. 2 and an 8-6 win at No. 3. Victoria Lozano earned a 6-3, 6-4 win at the top singles spot, and Almudena Sanz won 6-2, 7-6 at No. 2. Louisiana Tech got its singles wins at Nos. 3 and 5, winning 6-1, 7-5 over Molly Knox and 6-0, 6-3 against Alejandra Lozano. Sophie Vickers picked up a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 4 and Beatriz Flores rounded out the lineup with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 6.
The Vandals will head to next week's WAC tournament with an 18-7 overall record and a 3-1 mark in conference play.
"I just told them out there that they should be really proud of themselves," Idaho coach Dan Pollock said. "They've done a fabulous job and 3-1 in the WAC is an amazing record. It's a tough conference and they've done a great job. Hopefully we'll get good seed in the tournament and we'll see what we can do down there."
The WAC tournament is April 26-28 in Las Cruces, N.M. Seedings for the tournament are still to be announced.
