Four University of Idaho football players - running back Ryan Bass, linebacker Conrad Scheidt, cornerback Aaron Grymes, and punt returner Justin Veltung were chosen preseason first-team all-Western Athletic Conference by Phil Steele's College Football magazine.

In addition to the four first-team selections, six earned second-team recognition and four earned third-team mention.

Second-team choices are offensive lineman A.J. Jones, receiver Mike Scott, linebacker Robert Siavii, safety Gary Walker, kicker Trey Farquhar and punter Bobby Cowan.

On the third team are tight end Mike LaGrone, center Mike Marboe, defensive end Benson Mayowa and linebacker Homer Mauga.
