|VB falls to Northeastern|
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Idaho volleyball team found itself in yet another tight match, and for the third time in a row, the Vandals found themselves on the losing end, as Northeastern won 22-25, 25-18, 26-24, 26-24 Saturday afternoon.
The Vandals had a chance to force a fifth set, leading 24-23 in set four, but Northeastern won the last three points to clinch the victory. Idaho falls to 2-4 on the season with the loss, while the Huskies improve to 5-2.
Idaho hit .128 in the match with 45 kills while the Huskies hit a blazing .255 with 59 kills. The Huskies out-blocked Idaho 14.0-9.0, while Idaho held a 9-7 edge in service aces and a 52-51 edge in digs.
Junior Allison (Walker) Baker had another double-double, her sixth of the season, with 17 kills and 10 digs, while hitting .196. Ashley Christman finished with 12 kills on 30 attempts and hit .267 in the match. Alyssa Schultz had nine kills and hit .250. Baker, Jenna Ellis and Janelle Chow each had two aces a piece. Chow added a team-high 20 digs. Ryann Carter finished with 38 assists for Idaho.
The Vandals trailed 24-22 in the third set and tied it at 24-24 before the Huskies got the final two points to win the set and go ahead 2-1 in the overall match.
The Vandals wrap up their road trip on Monday at 12:30 Cal. State Northridge.
