|Volleyball keeps improving|
MOSCOW – The Idaho volleyball team hosted Washington State and Gonzaga for a pair of spring matches on Saturday, and lost two out of three sets to the Cougars before beating GU two out of three.
Idaho lost six seniors from last season and returns seven letter-winners and one redshirt. Coach Debbie Buchanan said the team is gaining valuable experience this spring.
“From last week to this week we did a better job,” Buchanan said. “We have some outsides who are playing all the way around for the first time and there are more responsibilities. We’re working on transition and working on putting shots in and I feel like we’re doing a better job. We still have a long way to go. All those little plays sometimes we’re out of position and a lot of that comes from just playing together at lot and trusting each other.”
Idaho lost 25-18 in the first set to WSU, won 25-23 in the second and lost 25-17 in the third. The Vandals beat Gonzaga 25-22 and 25-21 in the first two sets before falling 25-22 in the third.
Idaho will play five matches at Gonzaga next Saturday and wrap up its spring schedule at Portland on April 27.
