|Volleyball opens fall camp|
MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho volleyball team began its preparation for the 2014 season Friday morning with its first of 25 scheduled practices that make up the team’s fall camp.
The Vandals return 10 letter-winners from last year’s squad that went 19-11 and add five freshmen and two returning redshirts, but 2014 presents the new challenge of a transition into the Big Sky Conference.
“We have a lot of talent and it helps that we have more depth this year too because it creates more competition, and with that, we’ll be able to make ourselves better,” junior defensive specialist Jenna Ellis said. “The Big Sky for us will be a new look against new teams so we’ll get to prove ourselves against a new crowd of people.”
Junior outside hitter Katelyn Peterson was happy to get back in the gym with her teammates.
“We’re really together and super focused,” she said. “It’s a great feeling in the gym, everyone’s together and working towards that common goal.”
The Vandals have three weeks to get ready for their first competition of 2014, when they take on Oklahoma, Florida and Georgia Southern at the Active Ankle Challenge hosted by Florida Aug. 29 and 30.
