Idaho’s 45 spring sport honorees came from men’s and women’s golf, tennis and outdoor track and field, while freshmen and transfers from all sports claimed a combined 37 All-Academic awards. Combined with the 43 honors in fall sports and 54 from winter sports, Vandal student-athletes tallied 179 total conference academic honors during the 2011-12 season. That total continues a strong upward trend for Idaho Athletics and marks and increase in total honorees for a third-consecutive season. In 2008-09, Vandals earned 116 WAC All-Academic honors. That total climbed to 141 in 2009-10 and 153 last year in 2010-11. Idaho’s 179 honorees this year are a high since joining the conference for the 2005-06 season. To be considered for the honor, a student-athlete must have completed at least one year at the school, participated in at least 50 percent of his or her team’s contests and hold a minimum 3.00 cumulative grade-point average.
