|Raudenbush First WAC XC Honor|
DENVER—Idaho distance-runner Halie Raudenbush was named the Western Athletic Conference women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the week of Aug. 26 – Sept. 1.
Raudenbush, a sophomore from Boise, Idaho (Timberline HS), placed first overall on Saturday at the Clash of the Inland Northwest to lead the way for the Vandal women. Her time of 14:20.00 was eight seconds ahead of the second-place finisher and helped her claim victory over the 104 other entered runners. Raudenbush improved her time by 48 seconds compared to her 2012 race at the same event.
"I'm excited for Halie," Idaho director of track and field/cross country Wayne Phipps said. "She worked extremely hard this summer and it is great to see her being recognized for that hard work."
Last season Raudenbush finished 16th overall at the WAC Championships meet, helping the Vandals to their third-consecutive conference title. Her highest finish of the season was ninth at the 2012 Clash of the Inland Northwest.
Utah Valley’s Jason Lynch was honored as the men’s Athlete of the Week.
