|First scrimmage solid|
MOSCOW, Idaho – All in all, it was a good 40 minutes for the University of Idaho men’s basketball team Friday afternoon at Memorial Gym.
Coach Don Verlin said his team faces some growing pains over the next few weeks, but he was encouraged by the scrimmage that was divided in four 10-minute periods as the coaching staff mixed and matched the new with the veteran.
“Our intensity was good,” Verlin said. “We have a lot of new guys. We have a lot of guys trying to figure out what we’re trying to do and what we’re trying to implement. We have to learn to execute offensively and defensively.”
That being said, he had praise for the intangibles.
“I liked our effort,” Verlin said. “Our intensity was good. Our attitude was good. Our coach-ability was good.”
For the afternoon, veteran guard Connor Hill had 16 points as did newcomer Glen Dean. Adding 11 each were redshirt freshman Ty Egbert as well as true freshman Sekou Wiggs and junior college transfer Mike Scott.
Sophomore Paulin Mpawe had 10 rebounds to lead that category.
