MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho men’s basketball team continues its three-game home-stand on Thursday when it welcomes New Mexico State to the Cowan Spectrum for a 7 p.m. tip off.

New Mexico State enters Thursday’s game with a 17-7 overall record and a 6-2 mark in WAC play. NM State ranks in the top 75 (out of 349 Division I teams) in 12 different statistical categories, including a No. 2 ranking in free throws attempted (723) and made (504). With 17.2 points per game, Daniel Mullings leads five Aggie players who average 9.0 or more points per game.

The Vandals are 8-14 on the season and 2-6 in WAC play entering the week. Idaho senior Stephen Madison has a chance to enter Idaho’s all-time top-5 in scoring this week, as his 1,334 career points are just 23 behind Steve Weist (1973-76) for fifth place. Madison is averaging 17.9 points per game and is coming off a 27-point performance in Idaho’s last game. That was Madison’s eighth 20-plus point outing of the season.

The last time the Vandals and Aggies met, New Mexico State handed Idaho its worst loss of the season, a 78-54 defeat in Las Cruces, N.M., on Jan. 11. The Aggies converted 7-of-13 first-half 3-pointers to put the game away in the early going. Mike Scott was Idaho’s lone double-figure scorer, with 12 points, while four NM State players reached double figures, led by 16 points from Daniel Mullings and KC Ross-Miller.

Idaho wraps up its home-stand against Texas-Pan American on Feb. 8 in the Cowan Spectrum.
