DENVER - The Western Athletic Conference released its 2009 fall academic all-WAC teams and 25 Idaho student-athletes were among those honored.

The fall academic all-WAC teams include football, volleyball, men's and women's cross country and women's soccer players. To be honored, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year, hold a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests. Freshmen and transfers from all sports are honored at the end of the year.

In all, 169 Idaho student-athletes achieved a 3.0 or better GPA during the fall semester, and Vandal student-athletes as a whole produced a combined 3.10 GPA. Teams active during the fall season compiled a 3.20 overall GPA during the semester. Among fall sports teams, women's soccer led the way with a 3.58 team GPA.

Women's cross country, football, and soccer each had six academic all-WAC selections, while volleyball had four and men's cross country had three.
