MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho men’s basketball team will face a future Big Sky opponent for the second time this week when it visit Portland State on Dec. 14. The Vandals and Vikings tip off at 7 p.m. (PT).

Idaho is in the midst of a stretch of facing Big Sky opponents in four out of five games. The Vandals are set to rejoin the league starting with the 2014-15 season.

The Vandals are 4-6 on the season after a road loss at Montana on Dec. 11, while Portland State is 4-3 after a four-game winning streak earlier in the season. Idaho and Portland State have three common opponents already in 2013-14, and both have beaten UC Davis and lost to Boise State and Portland.

Idaho is led by senior Stephen Madison, a Portland native, who averages 16.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Junior Connor Hill is coming off his third 20-plus point performance of the season, a 24-point outing at Montana, and averages 14.3 points per game.

Tim Douglas leads Portland State’s scoring attack with 16.6 points per game. Aaron Moore adds 12.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game for the Vikings, who shoot 41.1 percent from 3-point range with 6.3 made 3s per game on the season. Portland State is 10-8 all-time against Idaho, but the Vandals won the last meeting between the two schools, a 77-68 victory in Moscow in 2012.

Idaho will face Idaho State in Boise’s CenturyLink Arena on Dec. 20, then wrap up a stretch of nine out of 10 games away from home when it visits Cal State Northridge on Dec. 22. The Vandals will return home for their final game before Western Athletic Conference play starts when they host Montana on Dec. 28.
