|Vandals face LA Tech in finale|
RUSTON, La. - The Idaho women's basketball team has a tall order in front of it on Saturday as it wraps up its regular season at Louisiana Tech, which clinched the Western Athletic Conference regular season championship and the league's No. 1 seed in next week's WAC tournament earlier in the week.
The Vandals (14-13, 7-8 WAC) are coming off a road win at New Mexico State, and have clinched the fifth seed in the WAC tournament, while LA Tech (22-6, 14-1 WAC) will have a bye all the way into the WAC semi-finals.
Idaho senior YInka Olorunnife is just four rebounds shy of breaking the WAC's all-time rebounding record, as she enters the season finale with 1,022 in her career. Olorunnife is averaging 14.3 points and 10.4 rebounds per game, and has 14 double-doubles this season.
Louisiana Tech is the only WAC team that the Vandals have never beaten, as Idaho is 0-12 all-time against the Lady Techsters. Idaho fell to LTU 63-56 in Moscow earlier this season.
The Lady Techsters are led by Adrienne Johnson, who is averaging 21.5 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. LA Tech owns a +10.0 scoring margin on the season, scoring 73.7 points per game while allowing only 63.7.
Saturday's game will be the final regular season game for five Idaho seniors, including Olorunnife, Rachele Kloke, Derisa Taleni, Bianca Cheever and Emily Doran.
Idaho's postseason run will begin with a matchup with in-state rival Boise State on March 9 in the opening round of the WAC tournament in Las Vegas, Nev. The winner of that game will advance to the WAC quarterfinals to take on either Nevada or Utah State.
