The Idaho women's basketball team gets exhibition play underway on Friday as it hosts Western Oregon at 6 p.m. in Memorial Gym.

Friday is Idaho's only exhibition game of the season, and is a double-header with the Idaho men's team, which faces Central Washington at 8 p.m. One ticket gets fans entry into both games, and tickets are $5 for youth and $10 for adults.

The Vandals went 12-20 in 2011-12, but won three of their last four regular season games to finish fourth in the Western Athletic Conference. Idaho went 7-4 in its last 11 games overall, and advanced to the Western Athletic Conference semifinals for the second time in three seasons.

The Vandals return six letter-winners from that team, including starters Krissy Karr, Alyssa Charlston and Jessica Graham. Karr and Charlston were preseason All-WAC selections heading into 2012-13. In addition to those three, Stacey Barr, Ashley Walters and Ana Overgaard return for Idaho. Three players who were on the team but sat out in 2011-12 will also be available this season, including redshirt-freshman Natalie Lainhart; junior Addie Schivo, who missed last year with injury; and sophomore Maren Austgulen, who was forced to sit out her freshman year and the first two games of this season because of NCAA ruling.

Five newcomers join those nine for 2012-13, including junior college transfer Janelle Weiss and freshmen Abi Quinnett, Ali Forde, Christina Salvatore and Connie Ballestero.

The Vandals open the regular season on the road at Wyoming on Nov. 9, followed by a game at Colorado on Nov. 11 before their home-opener on Nov. 16 against Portland in Memorial Gym. Season and single-game tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at or over the phone at (208) 885-6466.
