|WBB continues road trip at UW|
The Idaho women's basketball team will look for its third straight win when it travels to Seattle to face the Washington Huskies at 1 p.m. on Dec. 16.
Idaho has put together back-to-back double-digit road wins against UC Irvine and UC Riverside to get to 3-6 on the season. Washington is 6-1 on the year, and will host UC Santa Barbara on Dec. 15 before taking on Idaho.
Washington has not relied on depth to get off to its 6-1 start. All five of Washington's starters average more than 30 minutes per game, only seven players have played in all seven games, and only eight players have seen game action this season. Despite these facts, the Huskies are a second-half team. UW has outscored its opponents by only two points in the first half of its seven games this season (0.3 ppg), but outscored them by 38 points (5.4 ppg) in the second half and overtime. UW has used the same starting lineup in every game this season, and all five starters average more than nine points per game.
The Vandals and Huskies are among the NCAA's best 3-point shooting teams. Washington ranks 14th out of 343 teams with 8.0 3-pointers made per game, and 51st with a 35.0 3-point field goal percentage. Idaho, meanwhile, ranks 10th with 8.2 3-pointers made and 101st with its 31.9 3-point field goal percentage.
Idaho junior Alyssa Charlston leads the team in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage, with 13.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game to go with a 44.3 percentage. Freshman Christina Salvatore has made at least one 3-pointer in every game this season, and averages 3.0 made 3s per game, the second most in the WAC and the 16th most in NCAA Division I.
Washington beat Idaho 66-49 in Memorial Gym on Nov. 30, 2011. Stacey Barr led Idaho with 11 points in that game while Amina Williams, who also scored 11 points, is UW's returning leading scorer from that game.
Idaho will wrap up its non-conference schedule on Dec. 20 at Gonzaga before returning home for the first time in a month when it opens Western Athletic Conference play against Seattle U on Dec. 29 in the Cowan Spectrum.
