|WBB Begins Official Practice|
MOSCOW, Idaho--Monday marked the first official day of the 2013-14 season for the University of Idaho women's basketball team. The defending Western Athletic Conference Tournament Champions have 39 days to get set for their season opener against Gonzaga in the first round of the Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament in Spokane, Wash.
"I think we have a lot of work to do as a team," head coach Jon Newlee said before practice. "We have been doing a lot of individual concepts but I think now we need to put those individual concepts into team concepts."
The Vandals return all five starters from last season and have eight returning players in all. The Vandals also added depth with to the roster, welcoming in four freshmen this season.
"Just from over the summer you can already see how much the returners have improved," senior Alyssa Charlston commented. "We want to constantly improve from here to there [Gonzaga] and develop that team chemistry."
The Vandals will open the season in Spokane on Nov. 8. Second round play will be either Nov. 10/11. If the Vandals advance all the way to the championship game they will play on Nov. 17.
