|Vandals Prepare for Carroll|
MOSCOW, Idaho—The University of Idaho return to Memorial Gym on Tuesday after a three game road trip to face NAIA opponent Carroll College.
Idaho went 1-2 in last week’s action, the lone win coming at Nevada. Idaho fell 59-55 to No. 20 Cal in the champoinship game of the Nugget Classic.
“We just have to put the loss behind us,” head coach Jon Newlee said. "It was a tough loss for us. It was a great opportunity for us to beat a highly ranked team. We got to get back to the drawing board here and get focused for the three games we have this week and continue to get better before the WAC season starts."
Junior Stacey Barr totaled 51 points and 25 rebounds in the Vandals three games over the Thanksgiving holiday. Senior Alyssa Charlston added 44 points and 20 rebounds. In the win at Nevada Barr and Charlston combined for 51 of Idaho’s 88 points.
Idaho holds a 3-0 series lead over Carroll. Idaho has never lost to the Saints, dating back to 1979. In their last match up the Vandals handed the Saints a 63-40 loss in December of 2011. Charlston recorded 22 points and Barr had 11 points off the bench. The Vandals shot 40.7 percent from the field and held Carroll to only 17 made field goals.
Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. PT.
