|WBB Looks to Bounce Back vs. Wyo.|
MOSCOW, Idaho—The University of Idaho women’s basketball team will tip off at Cowan Spectrum for the first time this season on Saturday. The Vandals will welcome in the Wyoming Cowgirls.
“Wyoming is playing extremely well,” head coach Jon Newlee noted. “They are 8-2 and have played well. They are very physical inside and big at the guard spots. They have a couple of kids that can really shoot the three. They have a good point guard that didn’t play much last year. She has added quickness to them. We know what they are going to do, it’s just a matter of being able to stop it and execute our own offense.”
Last season the two teams opened the season in Laramie. The Cowgirls got the better of the Vandals that day, defeating Idaho 86-53. Christina Salvatore was the lone Vandal to reach double-figures in scoring, finishing with 12 points on 5-of-12 shooting. Alyssa Charlston spent most of the first half on the bench in foul trouble. She finished with six points in 19 minutes. For the game Idaho shot 28.8 percent from the field. Wyoming shot 50.8 percent.
The Vandals are coming off a heartbreaking loss to Eastern Washington last Saturday. Charlston put in a career-high 32 points as the Vandals fell short in Cheney.
Game time is set for 12:00 p.m. PT. Tickets for tomorrow’s matchup are only $1 and fans can enjoy free popcorn.
