MOSCOW, Idaho—10 games and counting. That is the current run the University of Idaho women’s basketball team has compiled. The Vandals continue their historic march to Las Vegas on Thursday when they play host to the Roadrunners of CSU Bakersfield.

Idaho (17-7, 10-0 WAC) has its first 10-game winning streak since the 1985-86 season. The Vandals have not reeled off 11 consecutive wins since the 1984-85 season. Pat Dobratz’s team started the season 15-0. They also had a 13-0 winning streak before falling to No. 15 Southern California in the NCAA Tournament. Idaho’s current streak is the eighth longest streak in the nation.

Junior Stacey Barr led Idaho to a 96-69 win earlier this season in Bakersfield. Barr totaled a game-high 23 points in 27 minutes of play. The Vandals scored a season-high 51 first-half points. Thursday will mark the first meeting between the two schools in Moscow. Idaho holds a 3-0 series lead.

“I think [Thursday] is a huge game for us,” head coach Jon Newlee stated. “Bakersfield is in second place and only two games behind us. Being back home, we have to defend our home floor. I think they have a lot of talent and we are really going to have to bring it.”

CSU Bakersfield (13-8, 7-2 WAC) led from start to finish against Grand Canyon last Saturday. The ‘Runners notched a 77-70 victory over the ‘Lopes. Tyonna Outland charted her second consecutive double-double as she scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

Thursday’s matchup will tip off at 6 p.m. PT in the Cowan Spectrum. The Student Athlete Advisory Committee is sponsoring Athletes Supporting Athletes Night. The Idaho team with the highest percentage of athletes in attendance on Thursday will win a pizza party at the game.
