MOSCOW, Idaho – Former Idaho women’s basketball standout Alyssa Charlston, who graduated last month with a 3.97 grade-point average in Broadcasting and Digital Media Communications, earned the 2014 Rich and Mary Fox Memorial Scholarship, an award given to the graduating student-athlete who earned the highest cumulative GPA.

“This is a great award for Alyssa,” Idaho women’s basketball coach Jon Newlee said. “It really sums up all the hard work she has put in on and off the court. I couldn’t be more proud of her. Nobody deserves what they’re getting more than Alyssa for all the hard work she has done. It really shows what a great Vandal she has been over the last four years.”

Charlston, who was a two-time Academic All-American and three-time all-Western Athletic Conference selection, will receive a $4,050 award for the achievement. She left Idaho as the fifth leading scorer in program history, and ranked fourth in rebounds and blocks, and led the Vandals to two WAC championships and two NCAA tournament berths.
