You can add the Manning Award Watch List to University of Idaho quarterback Nathan Enderle's growing list of preseason recognitions.

The Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, added Enderle Tuesday in its planned release of one player per day through its official Facebook and Twitter pages. The award has honored the top quarterback in the nation for the past six years.

Enderle attracted attention in 2009 as he engineering the Vandals' turn-around from a two-win team to a bowl champion. Along the way, he climbed to No. 5 in the NCAA's pass efficiency rankings and is one of the top two returners in that category this fall. He also finished 2009 ranked second in the nation in yards-per-attempt (9.31), 15th in passing yards per game, 28th in total passing yards, and 45th in completions per game.

"He certainly worked his tail off to be deserving of it," said Idaho coach Robb Akey of Enderle's placement on the Manning Award Preseason Watch List to go with his also being on the Unitas Golden Arm Watch List and the Davey O'Brien Award Watch List. "He got everybody's attention last year with the way he controlled things. He did a great job.

"It's a great honor to even be considered."

The list of 10 finalists will be released Nov. 29. The winner will be announced Jan. 19, 2011. The Davey O'Brien semifinalists will be announced Oct. 25 with the finalists being revealed Nov. 22 and the winner Dec. 9. The Unitas Award winner is announced in December.
